Objectives we saw, in order
| Day and objective | What it says |
|---|---|
| Night 0: Check the television | The news has cut in; something is happening downtown. |
| Night 0: Lock up for the night | Answer whoever is at the door, lock the entrance, check the peephole, choose a sleeping place (bed, couch or mattress). |
| Day 1: Keep watch | Supplies are counted. Stay quiet and keep the entrance locked. |
| Day 2: Fill every container before the taps stop | A counter shows stored clean water, for example 141 L. |
| Day 2: Wait for 19:00 | Static for now. Turn the radio off to save the batteries, and back on just before seven. |
| Day 3: Something is gathering in the corridor | Check the peephole. Prepare the entrance before they come. |
| Day 3: Brace the entrance | Drag the couch to the marked brace position, then add more furniture. A chair can jam the handle. |
| Day 3: Food for Mara's radio / Mara's radio | Hand Mara 2 portions across the balcony gap, then switch the radio on at low volume shortly before 19:00. Close the doors; loud radios draw them in. |
| Day 3: The attack has ended | Rest and repair. Furniture braces hold far better than a lock alone. |
| Day 4: A quiet day | The building is silent without power. Look after the home, and look around it. |
| Day 5: Day 5 | Inspect supplies, keep defences up, and rest at night. |
| Day 6: Collect rainwater | Set an open bucket on a balcony bracket. Rainwater is untreated. |
| Day 7 to 8: A quiet morning | No extra text in the footage. In the 7 Tips run, Arthur Hale and Eli are met during this objective. |
| Day 8: Keep the home running | Check water and food in the guide. Repair and brace the door before night. |
The pattern of the first week
The first days are about running out. Water is the first to go: Night 0 tells you to store it while the taps still run, Day 2 tells you to fill every container before they stop, and Day 4's objective says the building is silent without power. By Day 6 you're collecting rainwater and treating it.
Each warning arrives a day or two before the thing it warns about, so doing the objective early is the whole trick. The same advice is written in the in-game book: store water before the taps stop, and count tomorrow's food before eating extra today.
Day 3: the door
Day 3 is the first time zombies come for you. Something is gathering in the corridor, you check the peephole and prepare the entrance. The brace objective is specific: drag the couch to the marked position, then add furniture, because a chair can jam the handle.
After the attack the game states the lesson itself: furniture braces hold far better than a lock alone. By Day 8 the objective is to repair and brace the door before night, so the barricade needs upkeep.
What we haven't seen yet
This page covers Night 0 to Day 8 because that's what the player videos we checked reach. The game description promises 100 days, rooftop shelters, escape plans and a choice between waiting for rescue and risking a way out, and we haven't seen the later days or the endings. We'll add them when a video shows them.
Day by day tips
- Do the objective the day it appears; the next problem usually shows up within a day or two.
- Fill every container on Day 2 even if you think the taps are fine.
- Don't wait to brace the door: check the peephole when the corridor warning appears, then drag the couch.
- Keep the radio off until just before 19:00 to save its battery.
- Keep a bucket and treatment tablets ready for rain on Day 6.
