Low Range: Offroad 4x4: full overview

What Low Range: Offroad 4x4 is

Low Range: Offroad 4x4 is a physics-driven driving game on Roblox from MTBAce Studios, listed under Simulation. It went up on 9 October 2026 and is still in early access, which the game itself says plainly: things will change and some will break. Up to 20 players can share a server, and the game supports keyboard, mouse and controller.

The pitch is the opposite of a racer. Each stage is one trail from start to finish, modelled on real offroad tracks, and the game's own description says that speed will not get you through it. What matters is reading the ground and setting the truck up for it: lowering tire pressure, locking the differentials, dropping into low range, and using a winch when the truck is stuck. Fuel caches along the trail refill the tank and also act as checkpoints, and the mud keeps every rut for everyone on the server.

At the time of writing the Roblox page showed about 8,300 players in game, over 1.2 million visits, more than 10,000 favorites and 4,644 likes against 136 dislikes. The game was last updated on 4 November 2026.

What a first session looks like

Both videos we used start in the Tutorial map, a 1.4 km trail that the main menu marks DONE once you finish it. It is built as a series of numbered lessons, and each one appears as a dark card at the top of the screen with a short title, a step counter and a couple of lines of instruction. In the footage, later cards carry a note such as "Not yet: read the card, then CONTINUE", so the game waits until you have read the text and pressed Enter before it moves on.

On screen you can see the order of the lessons: the dashboard, driving and stopping, the gear lever, low range going downhill and then uphill, 4WD, diff lockers, mud, logs, rocks and finally a winch lesson. Between lessons the game drops a checkpoint and tells you how far away the next white ring is. One card in the footage reads "Next: 3. The gear lever. Drive to the white ring: 15 m." A distance counter at the top of the screen counts down in metres and kilometres as the truck moves.

In the footage the truck is a grey wagon with a roof rack, a spare wheel on the back and red fuel cans. The camera sits behind and above it, and the world is a low-poly forest of pines, rocks, fallen logs and dirt tracks. When the truck gets wedged, a Stuck card offers two options: go back to the start of the lesson with CONTINUE, or back up and try another line.

Reading the dashboard

The bottom of the screen carries all the numbers you need. On the left is a TIRES card with a slider marked MUD, SAND, GRAVEL and ROAD. In the footage it reads 36 psi on the road and 10 psi after the player airs down for mud. Under it sit three small gauges: ROLL and PITCH show how far the truck leans sideways and nose-up or down, in degrees, and WHEELS DOWN shows how many wheels are touching the ground, for example 4/4. In one clip the pitch gauge turns orange and reads 30 degrees while the truck climbs a slope.

On the right are a fuel gauge with a burn rate in litres per hour, a speed readout in km/h and the gear lever. The lever has A, N and R on the right and L+, L and L- on the left, and the label underneath changes between AUTO 1/5, LOW, LOW+ and REVERSE. The Dashboard lesson says the low positions are slow and strong, and that low range and a steady pace burn less fuel on rough ground.

Tutorial cards highlight whichever gauge they are talking about with a thin yellow outline, which makes the HUD easy to learn even if you have never driven a crawler game.

The techniques the tutorial teaches

The lesson text gives a consistent set of rules. W is gas, S is brake, A and D steer. On a downhill, the card says to put the lever in low range, hold W and leave the brake alone, going straight down the slope rather than across it. Uphill, it says to hold W steady and steer early for ledges. The tutorial also warns against the N position on a hill because the truck rolls free.

For mud the card says to air the tires down to the MUD setting, which is the lowest at 10 psi, because a soft tire spreads out and floats. It adds that you should keep moving. The Logs lesson says to follow the marks, go slow and steady, give a little more gas for the big log, and lock a diff with K if the truck sticks. The Rocks lesson says to crawl, steer early and never put a wheel on top of a rock.

The last lesson in the footage is Winch yourself out, which has four steps and starts with driving to the foot of a bank. Both videos stop around there, so we do not describe the rest of the winch lesson here. Our full guide page lists the keys and the winch prompts seen in other footage.

What players post about it

The two videos behind these screenshots show the two obvious ways people cover the game. One, from the channel 4x4 Game Lover, is a tutorial walkthrough of the early release, and its description credits MTBAce as the maker. The other, from RndmVids, is titled around driving Low Range 4x4 extreme offroad challenges, and its description talks about difficult roads and obstacles. Its hashtags place the game next to car simulators and JDM car clips, so part of the audience clearly arrives from general driving content.

Both are early-release recordings, so expect the menus and tutorial text to shift as the developer updates the game.

Maps, trucks and where to read more

The main menu lists four maps: Tutorial, Ridgeback Creek, Boab Gorge and High Country. Ridgeback Creek has three stages totalling 9.5 km, and the later maps are locked until you finish the one before. The truck picker shows five free trucks and two that need a game pass.

There are no codes to redeem: the game description does not mention any. For the lesson-by-lesson breakdown, the full control list, the gauge table and the winch details, see the Low Range: Offroad 4x4 guide on this site.

What is Low Range: Offroad 4x4?

A slow, technical offroad driving game in early access. Each stage is one trail from start to finish, inspired by real offroad tracks around the world. Speed won't get you through: reading the ground and setting up your truck will. Air down your tires, lock the diffs and drop into low range when the trail gets hard, and use the winch when you're stuck. Fuel caches on the trail fill your tank and act as checkpoints, and the mud remembers every rut for everyone on the server.
