Short version: Play the Tutorial trail first. It walks you through the whole kit in order: W for gas, S to brake, the gear lever, low range for hills, locked 4WD, tire pressure for mud, and a winch. The rule it keeps repeating: slow down, stay in low range on rough ground, and keep the tires low in mud and water.

  1. Step 1 · Tutorial · card 1

    Welcome: one problem, one tool

    On screen: Welcome

    • The first card says this trail teaches you to drive off-road. Each stop shows you a problem and the tool for it.
    • The card says what to do. The rest waits: the next stop doesn't start until you've read it and pressed Enter (CONTINUE).
  2. Step 2 · Tutorial · card 2

    Read your dashboard

    On screen: Your dashboard

    • The gear lever is on the bottom right. A drives forward, R reverses.
    • L+, L and L- are low range: slow and strong.
  3. Step 3 · Tutorial · lesson 2

    Drive, stop and steer

On screen: 2. Drive and stop — step 1 of 2

    • Hold W for gas. S brakes. A and D steer.
    • Drag with the right mouse button to look around. V puts the camera back behind you.

The next card (Distance to go) points out the counter at the top of the screen: the distance to the finish counts down as you drive.

  4. Step 4 · Tutorial · lesson 3

Use R to back up, and never use N on a hill

On screen: 3. The gear lever

    • Sometimes the way on is backwards. R on the gear lever drives you backwards.
    • N rolls free: never use it on a hill.
  5. Step 5 · Tutorial · lesson 4

    Crawl downhill in low range

On screen: 4. Low range down — step 2 of 2

    • Low range holds the truck back. In L-, the gas sets a slow crawl, and even with the pedal down it won't run away.
    • Put the gear lever in low range, hold W and let it crawl down. Leave the brake alone.
    • Go straight down the slope, never across it. Too slow? L is a little faster.

The card before it sends you to a white ring 35 m ahead. The on-screen hint at the gear lever says to let go of the key to engage.

  6. Step 6 · Tutorial · lesson 5

Walk up a slope in low range

On screen: 5. Low range up — step 1 of 1

    • Hold W steady and let it walk up.
    • Steer early for the ledges.
    • L+ is the fastest low position.

The card before it says you stay in low range here because the trail is rough.

  7. Step 7 · Tutorial · lesson 6

    Keep the 4WD locked off-road

    On screen: 6. 4WD

    • It's locked now: front and rear turn together.
    • Open, a spinning axle takes the drive from the other. Leave it locked off-road.
    • J opens it for smooth roads.
  8. Step 8 · Tutorial · lesson 7

Lock the diffs when a wheel spins

    On screen: 7. Diff lockers

    • In the lesson the truck crept on, but the free wheel spun.
    • An open diff sends the power to the easiest wheel. That's what the lockers fix; the HUD shows K for lockers.
  9. Step 9 · Tutorial · lesson 8

    Air down for mud

    On screen: 8. Mud — step 1 of 3

    • Air down the tires to MUD. Click MUD on the TIRES card, or press 4.
    • Put the gear lever in low range.
    • Steady gas. Keep moving: don't stop. Wheels spinning? Ease off a little.
    • The diff locks help in mud too: K.

With the MUD preset the TIRES card reads 10 psi; on the road it starts at 36 psi.

  10. Step 10 · Tutorial · lesson 9

    Cross water slowly

    On screen: 9. Water — step 1 of 1

    • Ease in slowly. Keep a steady pace.
    • Go straight across to the far bank.
    • Keep the tires low. They pump up at the fuel stop.

A "Too fast" card follows: slow down before obstacles, crawl in at walking pace. Fast, the bumps throw the truck about.

  11. Step 11 · Tutorial · lesson 11

    Crawl over rocks

    On screen: 11. Rocks — step 1 of 1

    • Follow the marks. Crawl.
    • Steer early, never on top of a rock.
    • L- or L is the pace for rocks.
  12. Step 12 · Tutorial · lesson 12

    Winch yourself out

On screen: 12. Winch yourself out — step 1 of 4

    • Drive to the foot of the bank. Follow the marks. You'll stop there.
    • If you get stuck on the way, the card says: back to the lesson's start with CONTINUE, or keep trying by backing up and taking another line.

The footage we read ends here. See the Winch table below for what the winch prompt and bar look like in a stage.

Driving tips

Watch it

The tutorial steps above come from one 14-minute playthrough: “Low Range- Early Release (New 4x4 game Roblox) Tutorial” by 4x4 Game Lover. Each “Watch” button jumps to the lesson card. The footage ends at the first winch card, so lessons after that aren't covered here yet.

FAQ

What do you do in Low Range: Offroad 4x4?

You drive one trail per stage from start to finish in a slow, technical offroad game. Per the game description, speed won't get you through: reading the ground and setting up your truck will.

How do you winch yourself out?

Press G, then click a tree, rock or truck within 10 m to hook on. The winch bar then shows the line length and the IN (Z), OUT (X) and UNHOOK (C) buttons. If the target is too far, the game says the line won't reach.

What tire pressure should I use?

The TIRES card has a slider marked MUD, SAND, GRAVEL and ROAD. It starts at 36 psi on ROAD, and the tutorial has you air down to MUD (10 psi) for mud, with the preset on key 4.

When do I use low range?

When the trail gets hard. The tutorial puts you in low range for slopes, mud, water and rocks: L- for going down and over rocks, L+ as the fastest low position, and L in between.

How do I reverse?

Put the gear lever on R. N rolls free, so never use it on a hill.

What are J and K for?

The tutorial says the 4WD is locked so front and rear turn together, and to leave it locked off-road; J opens it for smooth roads. K is the diff lockers: an open diff sends the power to the easiest wheel, which is why a free wheel spins.

How many maps and trucks are there?

The menu shows four maps (Tutorial, Ridgeback Creek, Boab Gorge, High Country) and seven trucks, five of them free. It is early access, so this will change.

Does Low Range have codes?

None that we could find. The game description doesn't mention codes (checked Nov 5, 2026).

How many players can join a server?

Up to 20.
