On April 13, 2026 trade reports said 20th Century Studios had won the theatrical rights to 99 Nights in the Forest after competitive bidding. The developers, Grandma's Favourite Games, were represented by Pryor Cashman.
The developers said working with Disney and 20th Century films shaped them growing up, and that they are excited to bring the game's world to a broader stage and create scares in a new medium.
At the April announcement the three developers were named as executive producers and no writer or director was attached.
Later, GosuGamers reported, citing The Hollywood Reporter, that Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Spider-Man trilogy) and Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4) are leading the adaptation. Bloody Disgusting also headlines Raimi as a producer. We could not read either original article, so treat the names as reported, not announced by the studio.
Nothing about the plot has been released. The game's premise is to survive 99 nights in a haunted forest, rescue four missing children and avoid creatures such as the Deer. Variety says the game was inspired by a 2023 plane crash in Colombia.
